Awsome little APU

Pros: Does everything I need it to for cheap, cheap, cheap
Cons: Zero
Other Thoughts: I built a very cheap pc and paired this chip with the "ASRock A55M-HVS FM" and steam video flawlessly on my 40 inch flat screen full HD TV
I thought I would need a video card eventually but this thing has not hiccuped once.

Works great for my Media Center PC

Pros: I bought this for my first home-built PC that is attached to my tv and runs Windows Media center. It is plenty powerful for what I do and it is low enough power that even though the fan on the tower wasn't working, between the fan on the CPU and the fan on the power supply, plus all the vents, it is okay.
Cons: Not really a con, but I accidentally had a couple of instances of IE running (doing nothing) while running Media Center and the performance got bad. Just can't run too much, it seems (although not sure why IE was eating any of the CPU)

Pros: The concept is good, but the quality and performance are not.
Cons: It booted the system and installed windows 7.
but when chipset drivers were installed, blue screen.
I replaced RAM, power supply, mainboard...even hard drive.
Same result.
Finally installed an athlon II and video card, and no problems.
This APU is definitely the culprit.

Pros: At this point none...
Cons: Paired this CPU with MSI Mainboard and Kingston RAM.
After installing Windows 7 and loading chipset driver, I got the hated blue screen.
I replaced the memory.
Same deal.
Replaced the mainboard.
Again...as soon as i load the chipset driver, it will not boot into windows.
There must be something wrong with this CPU.

Reliable APU for low-end PC, or HTPC

Pros: Worked right out of the box, has great speed compared to the last PC my brother had. Is as advertised for sure.
Cons: Only a con if you want higher performance, but this APU isn't nearly as good as the A8-3870k... but simply my opinion, and not worth taking off an egg.
Other Thoughts: This is good for low-end gaming PC's or HTPC's, I wouldn't lean on it much more than that, unless of course you'd like to pair it with a GFX card, can't go wrong with AMD's Dual Graphics setup.

Pros: Cheap-ish
Cons: I've gone through 3 mobos trying to get this CPU to work.
The FM1 socket architecture is a nice thought, but it's got a long way to go.
I'm switching to Intel after this experience.
I'm also going to stay away from newegg's bundle deals...they seem to be shady.

Meh, nothing great

Pros: It does what it should. Worked right out of the box, low power consumption, CPU+GPU is a good thing I guess. I had high hopes for the APU concept considering I love AMD video cards and this sounded like an awesome idea. And with that it's time for the cons.
Cons: Pretty underwhelming. I'm normally an Intel guy but I picked this up in a combo for a build I was doing for a buddy. At the same time I was doing another build for someone else with a different combo that had a dual core Phenom Black edition. Similarly priced and similarly spec'd, the black edition outperformed this substantially newer processor by leaps and bounds.Both systems were loaded with almost identical software, identical RAM, no major differences aside from the CPU/MOBO and this simply couldn't compete. Programs loaded slower, overall snapiness just wasn't there. Maybe the Phenom just had more of the kinks ironed out due to it having been several generations into the product line whereas this is a fairly early gen of the Llano line, but I was not impressed.
Other Thoughts: Maybe I'm being hard on this product, but with the number of builds I do yearly and considering I rarely use AMD, getting this processor for a build and seeing the results helps reinforce why I don't use AMD often. The black edition Phenom was a good sign to me that AMD could compete, this was a step in the opposite direction. Daily performance on par with an old Pentium D. Probably good for an HTPC but I'd be unhappy if this were my daily driver.

Awsome APU!!! The best bang for your buck!!

Pros: This card is perfect for a HTCP build, non gaming of coarse. If your looking to build a HTCP and want to go as cheap as possible with still being able to play HD content and Blu-Rays with out buying an expensive graphics card, this is the way to go!!
Cons: Not for gaming.
Other Thoughts: If you are planning on upgrading by using the dual graphics option, to utilize both the APU and GPU on an add on graphics card together, you should keep in mind that the A4-3400 is only compatible with limited graphics cards that max out at Radeon 6450. If you plan to go above Radeon 6550 skip the APU dual graphics all together. Any thing above that will not be able to use the APU and will solely rely on the add ons GPU.

Pros: Runs cool and stable, Fast for what it is.
Decent graphics performance compared to on board GPU's and lower end cards.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I used this for a customer build who needed a basic business desktop for his accounts receivable clerk whose old machine blew a motherboard.
It gives him the multitasking capability that he was looking for without the higher cost of a quad core and the graphic's performance is good enough for brochure work that is done on this unit.
