安腾9500处理器和新一代HP-UX硬件平台概况

通常HP-UX博客以讨论软件为主，不过由于Unix的生态系统是软件硬件紧密集成的，因此当HP Integrity服务器发生重大升级时，我们也必须来谈谈硬件，以及支持新硬件的软件特性。
一、8核安腾处理器Intel Itanium 9500系列 最新一代安腾 Itanium 9500系列(代号Poulson)将CPU核心增加到8个，在设计上延续了Intel的最高设计标准，继上一代四核Itanium 9300处理器(代号Tukwila)后，成为又一个”有史以来最为复杂”的通用处理器。
安腾9500基于新的微架构设计，采用32nm工艺制造（上代Tukwila则是65nm），集成31亿个晶体管（上一代Tukwila是20亿个），核心数量最多八个（上一代四个）。Poulson的片内缓存总容量最高达54MB（上一代30MB），功耗却从最高185W降至170W，待机功耗降低最多80%。
值得指出的是，安腾处理器核心自从第二代单核McKinley以来，直到四核Tukwila都保持不变，而此次Poulson的核心微架构也实现重大升级，指令并发数从6条倍增至12条。此外QPI总线带宽从4.8GT/s提升到6.4GT/s，并继续支持新一代超线程、动态加速技术，以 及其它大量的企业级可靠性技术，强调“世界级的RAS”。
经过此次升级，安腾的最高主频从1.73GHz提升至2.53GHz，CPU整体性能达到上一代的2.4倍（Intel官方说法）。此次安腾9500处理器Intel共推出了4核和8核共四款型号，各款型号和简单指标列表。

二、Integrity服务器概况
相比较上一代基于安腾9300的i2系统，此次采用安腾9500的系统被命名为i4，见下表：

（1）高端系统SuperDome 2
SuperDome 2采用Poulson后，扩展能力提升了100%，单系统核心数量达到256核，整体性能可达原来的2.8倍。配合最新HP-UX 11iv3 1209版，可实现单一256核/512线程OS映像，最大16个电气隔离分区nPar，多达256个硬件分区vPar。
SuperDome 2能支持用户在同一系统内混插安腾9300和安腾9500的单元板（两种不同单元板需配置在不同的nPar中），安腾9500单元板相比9300单元板，QPI总线速度提升到6.4GT/s，并采用了1.35V低电压内存DIMM，更加省电。
（2）中高端系统Integrity Blade i4刀片
在安腾9500推出后，升级最为明显的是中高端Integrity Blade系统。上一代采用安腾9300的三款服务器刀片BL860c i2, BL870c i2, BL890c i2是业界第一种能通过扩充标准单元刀片进行垂直升级的Unix服务器，实现几乎100%的投资保护。这个系列采用安腾9500后命名为BL860c i4, BL870c i4和BL890c i4，不仅扩展能力提升了一倍，整体性能更是达到原来的3倍，而且增加了一些十分关键的新特性，以8路系统为例，对比上一代BL890c i2和新一代BL890c i4，其特性比较见下表：

从对比表中可见新一代BL8x0 i4的几大亮点：
1。支持电气隔离硬件分区nPar
这使得Integrity Blade能提供所有的高级虚拟化能力，全面具备了中高级关键业务Unix服务器的特性。不同的分区间实现完全的物理隔离，防止硬件或软件故障影响其他分区，因此以往采用rx8640, rx7640 的用户可以放心升级了。
2。万兆以太网端口增加支持FCoE
上一代BL 8x0 i2推出时其充裕的内置万兆网口令人瞠目，每个端口不仅可以作为10Gb端口使用，还可以虚拟成4个物理1Gb端口。但新一代BL 8x0 i4更为强悍，每个端口最多可以虚拟成4个物理LAN端口，或者3个物理LAN端口加1个FCoE存储HBA端口，而10Gb的带宽可以在各个端口间动态分配，对于BL890c i4而言，这意味着不用加任何一块扩展卡，就能提供48个LAN和16个FCoE端口，网络和存储连接的投资可以大为节省。以下是以BL860c i4为例的示意图
3。扩展能力达到64个CPU内核
CPU核数倍增，而性能达到上一代32核的300%，从而切入了以往数据中心服务器的核心领地。并且BL8x0 i4仍然像上一代一样，可通过增加刀片和更换Bladelink板支持BL860c -& BL870c -& BL890c的线性升级。
4。新一代低电压内存DIMM
更加节省电能，且性能优于原来的DIMM。
（3）中低端机架系统rx2800 i4
采用安腾9500后，原来定位入门级服务器的rx2800也有了很大变化，可以选配4种不同的9500处理器，rx2800 i4扩展能力提升了1倍，覆盖从最低1路4核的入门级配置，到最大2路16核的全配置，采用安腾9560的最高配型号性能可达原来rx2800 i2的3.5倍。
Rx2800 i4可以支持原来入门级服务器不具备的vPar分区（现在rx2800 i2和i4均支持vPar），高端16核配置的rx2800 i4性能上已经切入到中级服务器范围，用途更为广泛灵活。
三、HP-UX 11iv3 1209更新版
与 采用安腾9500的新一代Integrity服务器配套的是最新版HP-UX 11iv3，1209更新版。该版本提供了一系列最新的特性。包括：
（1）安腾9500硬件支持，并与以往平台保持100%二进制兼容，ISV应用无须重新认证。1209版支持256个安腾核心和512线程（HT）。
（2）增强虚拟化功能
vPars 和 Integrity VM 升级到6.1.5版本，其中VM 6.1.5支持老版本HP-UX 11iv2。vPar和VM 6.1.5均提高了NPIV下虚拟HBA的上限至原来的2倍。
（3）增强的高可用性（High Availability）
Serviceguard增加了对DB2和EnterpriseDB的支持
（4）增强管理性
Matrix OE 版本升级到7.1，进一步稳固了关键业务云平台的支撑能力。
（5）安全性升级
OpenSSL, SSH, IPFilter, IPSec, AAA均得到了升级
（6）开发工具
C/C++ 编译器针对安腾9500特性进行了增强
安腾9500给Integrity服务器带来的是一次重大的升级，不仅使得HP-UX系统性能有了3倍的提高，而且大大推动了Integrity各系列服务器进一步增强了支持数据中心和关键业务应用的 能力，其可靠性、虚拟化特性、安全性均得到了跳跃式的提升，并且继续保持了用户投资保护的优良特性，使得用户在获得高收益的同时，避免了风险，是理想的企业级关键业务服务器。
