Recent updates
We're pleased to let you know that the latest update is out! In this update we've paid special attention to car-to-car collisions to make them more weighty and dynamic again, and now major crashes will more often result in the cars taking air or flipping over instead of just sliding around. We'll continue to improve crashes and at this point we'd love to are the cars now flipping over even too easily? Do the crashes feel weighty enough? Are they too hazardous from the player's perspective?
In the other news we've also improved the AI. Not only it's quicker and more aggressive towards each other and the player but now it also reacts to being bumped into to boot by swerving around and sometimes downright losing control and crashing - how cool is that? :)
Other goodies are included as well with full changelog below.
CHANGELOG:
Added the 3Ds Max AI Geom Gen tool which was missing from previous update.
Added missing track cameras to Mixed 1 Reverse.
Fixed see-through track geometry and improperly placed props on Mixed 2 Reverse.
Added PSD templates for menu assets (event icon, loading screen, results screen, car icon) under mod example folders.
Increased racing AI aggressiveness: AI is now more inclined to try to ram the player or the other AI drivers if given a chance.
Improved racing AI: it's now faster and drives more loose to give it a more natural edge.
Racing AI now reacts to being bumped or rammed by possibly losing control and/or spinning out.
Added graphics setting presets Low, Medium, High and Ultra (Settings & Graphics & Presets).
Added command line option '-disable_mods' to make troubleshooting easier in case mods are preventing the game from launching properly.
As always, thanks for your support. Please keep the feedback coming in!
We're happy to let you know that the latest update adds full Steam Workshop support to Wreckfest! Thanks to the Steam Workshop support we will have one centralized hub for all the custom content created by our exceptional community, and enjoying it is as easy as it gets: simply browse the workshop and subscribe to the mods that you want to, after which they will be automatically downloaded and appear in the in-game mod manager. The best part is that Steam will automatically take care of keeping your subscribed mods up-to-date so all that's left for you is to enjoy them! And if you're a mod author, sharing your creations to the masses has never been easier: simply click a button in Bag Editor, and your mod is uploaded to the workshop, ready to be downloaded and enjoyed. For more information on publishing your mods on Steam Workshop please see readme.txt in the tools folder.
And wait, there's more: track modding support! Yes, it's something that has been requested by many and sure enough, the latest update also adds all the necessary tools for you to create your own tracks. No matter whether you want to create an F1 circuit or a drifting course, it's all now possible. To get you started we have included a collection of example assets in mods/example/track.
Speaking about modding tools, in case you haven't noticed our awesome community member Dummiesman has created a Blender plugin to export game specific models from the popular free and open source modeling application Blender, eliminating the need for 3ds Max. The most up-to-date version of the plugin is available on our community forum .
As always, please let us hear in case of any boo-boo. Thanks for your support!
CHANGELOG:
Initial Steam Workshop support. Subscribed mods will appear in the in-game mod manager after they've been downloaded. See tools/Readme.txt for guidance on how to upload your mod to Steam Workshop.
Track modding support. All custom track data is stored in the mod's data/track folder. See mods/example/track for two example tracks (minimal and a more complete one) as well as tools/track_modding.doc for additional info on how to create your own.
Improved Mixed 1 track art and added a reverse variant.
Improved Sandpit 2 geometry and added more gameplay props.
Added a reverse variant for Mixed 2.
Fixed server browser crashing with custom tracks.
Retuned car-to-car collisions.
AI is now faster in tight curves.
Player starting car is now C class.
Improved Bag Editor with little bits here and there.
AI names can now be customized by editing data/property/career/ai_names.txt (UTF-8).

About This Game
Wreckfest is a new demolition derby themed racing game with soft-body damage modeling, sophisticated driving dynamics and in-depth vehicle upgrading, featuring both demolition derbies and more traditional track races. It’s all about fun, breakneck racing and over-the-top crashes.
Expect epic crashes and tight, neck-to-neck fights over the finish line on run-down racing tracks. Expect proper demolition derbies. Expect brand new ways for metal to bend and the signature once-in-the-lifetime moments that can be achieved only with true-to-life physics simulation.
It’s a motorsport, but not just any motorsport. It’s a motorsport with attitude.
First and foremost, we’re building a FUN racing game with PERSONALITY. It’s all about the stuff that really matters: varied tracks, cool cars, and the defining once-in-the-lifetime moments that can be achieved only with true-to-life physics simulation. If you’re familiar with our previous games, you already know what we’re aiming at: exhilarating racing action with sophisticated physics and damage modeling, only this time we’re upping the ante on almost every front. This is the game we envisioned way back in the early 2000s, only re-imagined for today’s technology and gaming standards.
The cars are old, cheap, banged up, patched together, rusty… just awesome! In short, our cars ooze with STYLE. You won’t find anything like them in other racing games. We’ve got variety, as well: everyone loves the old American heavy-hitters from the muscle car era, but we’re not neglecting the fun little European and Asian cars from the long-gone decades either. The best part is that you’ll be taking them apart and building them back up
the career is as much about your garage and your project cars as it is about racing.
Our in-house ROMU engine is a hell-bent beast that's precision-engineered for high-speed, breakneck racing. We have also already implemented fully deformable soft body car damage, meaning that the cars will react to damage in a very tangible, convincing way. While we're focused on action, motorsport authenticity is not forgotten, either. To that end our engine is simulating vehicle dynamics in a very sophisticated fashion. Rolling resistances, casters and slip angles are definitely not ancient Greek to us, and you as the player will be the one benefiting from our expertise.
The current Early Access release contains four playable cars and a number of tracks, showcasing both white-knuckle track racing and explosive demolition derby action with 24 cars that will give you taste of things to come. During the coming months we’re going to give the game a lot of polish as well as implement many new exciting features, and all Early Access supporters have a unique opportunity to get involved in the development of the title!
We’ve also giving a playable Technology Sneak Peek 2.0 to all our Early Access supporters. The sneak peek features a playground that we use internally to test various features various like car damage and environment destruction. Version 2.0 includes new destructive machinery, more dynamic stuff to blow up, spectacular stunts and an awesome physics cannon that we use to play with our physics engine. With the physics cannon you too will now have a chance to cause mayhem to heart’s content by launching missiles, throwing stuff around and destroying the environment as well as the cars!
NEW: Steam Workshop support!
Extensive modding support: create and modify cars, tracks, physics and a lot more.
Full mod support in multiplayer.
Online multiplayer with 24 players.
Dedicated server support.
LAN multiplayer.
Eight cars: American Muscle I, II & III, European Hatchback, American Sedan, European Coupe I & II and Asian Coupe, each with unique handling traits.
A number of different performance and handling upgrades, mimicking selected real-world parts.
A number of gravel, mixed surface and tarmac race tracks, many inspired by real-world tracks, featuring both normal and reverse layouts.
Many fan-favorite tracks like Figure 8 and Speedway I & II, guaranteed to offer total destruction with 24 cars.
Four different derby stadiums: Speedbowl, Stadium, Small Stadium and Mud Pit.
Various race and derby game modes including Team Deathmatch with up to (!) 24 cars, all with dynamic damage.
Soft-body car damage physics system that doesn't need a super computer - even online!
Highly configurable support for force-feedback wheels, pedals and H-shifters.
Dynamic content that reacts realistically – fences and billboards break down, tires fly around.
In-game Photo Mode and Replay with a number of cameras, configurable field-of-view and depth-of-field.
BONUS: A playable Technology Sneak Peek 2.0 - Have fun in the physics playground!
Wreckfest is currently in early Pre-Alpha stage, and the Early Access version is going to serve as a basis on which we will continue building the game based on your feedback on what works and what doesn't. Throughout the Early Access phase we're going to gradually add more content and new features to the game, with some of the most important key features planned being:
Improved car damage and handling.
More cars, each with different stylings and performance.
More race tracks and derby stadiums with varying surfaces.
More dynamic content on the tracks to drive through and crash into.
Highly configurable multiplayer with a variety of modes.
Extensive player garage and car upgrading system.
In-game classifieds to buy and sell cars and parts.
Streamlined and polished user interface.
Improved graphics quality and performance.
Please note that all features mentioned here may be altered or removed during the development of the title if deemed necessary.

I bought this game years ago, and it still hasn't delivered. Don't waste your time and money with this game.
Early Access Review
The development process goes slowly and the updates are hit and miss.
Build 6 (end of 2014) was magical, build 7 (mid 2015) sucked the fun out of the game and it stayed that way for a year. However, the updates this year pushed it back in the right direction and it is (nearly) as fun as it ever was. A lot of things are still missing, but racing is already very enjoyable both against AI and in multiplayer. There are 24/7 servers and a good community so there is a good chance of finding online games nearly all the time (in EU at least). This is the best driving game I played in a decade. I really hope the devs will manag to finish it up (but I got my money's worth tenfold already).
Early Access Review
The game has been in beta for about two years and still not complete. That's a fact. We may have to expect this game to be abandoned, but if you're kind of person who doesn't hate semi-sim racing, doesn't give a crap about development progress, ready to &waste& some money and always mad with traffic jam around your town, this is a game to clear out your mind. There's really nothing much to care about(at least for now), just crash, roll and burn. And you can have a pretty clean race on the tracks if you want to, except the slightly aggressive AIs. Also there are some multiplayer servers running 24/7, so there are some chances to try out the game with actual people. Yes, the user review says &Mostly Negative&, but that's because of the slow update and some people who think that this game is crap just because they can't win the event while not thinking about their driving skills. trust me, I've played many racing games since 2001 and this is one of those games which really makes my blood boil.
Early Access Review
So, next car game: wreckfest, a really cool game is my best way to descibe it. A car that has the AI hitting AI and causing a massive pile up in front of you, as you sit there grinning your face off as you try to navigate your way though the tracks that are avaiable. This game is fun, but, it is a bit expensive for ?25, updates do come, and they tend to add a new car, couple new tracks, but they are slow the updates. With the introduction of crew and mods this game has come back to life a little bit.
Early Access Review
My ability to handle my car should not be direclty related to my online ping.
It's impossible to play with friends overseas.
Early Access Review
I really liked this game. I wanted it to be finished. It seems that the game would never actually be finished as the development is way too slow and the game's been in early access since 2014. That being said, I seriously want a refund.

Early Access Review
Hello Folks,This review is both me trying to get a refund, and warning people away from this horrible game. Price:This is way overpriced, considering it runs horribly, looks horrible, and is just overall boring as cr**. People who own this game should be offered a refund, as almost no progress has been made in the last year. Just a desperate money grab.Graphics:Looks ugly, and even on low settings, it runs horribly. I'm using a $1,000 Asus with i7 processor. Shouldn't be that bad. Check out the screenshots on my profile. I can't get it to stop looking like that, despite restarting my computer and adjusting all of its graphical settings.Gameplay:Boring, repetitive, and laggy. Sure helps to be able to see things when you're trying to ram them...In conclusion:DAMNIT VALVE I WANT MY MONEY BACK! Seriously though, don't buy this game. It sucks.
Early Access Review
Its been in early access since 2014.What a ????ing waste of money.Do yourself a favor and buy Beam NG Drive. That game is in early access too, but at least there are a ton of maps and cars for that game.
Early Access Review
The lag is completely rediculous, and in all of the videos you had a sandbox map where you can do whatever you want like shred yourself, but nope!
Early Access Review
This game is immensely satisfying...
Early Access Review
I'm still waiting for a release. This is a prime example of why Early Access needs to be monitored, controlled, and patrolled much more cloesly.
Early Access Review
Still in early access... DO NOT BUY
Early Access Review
I got this game a couple years ago with the hope of a spiritual successor to the Flatout games with an awesome new soft-body physics engine. well its been a couple years and its still in alpha with no end in sight, they very rarely add anything new now, and the game is a poorly optimized mess. i really doubt this game will ever be finished.
Early Access Review
I'm not sure what all these negative cu nts are on about.
It's a great engine (yet the force feedback sucks), but the modding features are great. It's a hell of a lot of fun.
Destruction Derby was the first game my dad bought me as a kid, and this is entirely worthy.
Early Access Review
While it was fun in the tech demo for a while, the dev team has completely abandoned it all. Years and no progress has really been made after it was so fully supported by the public early on. Buggy, boring, stupid AI, and now difficult to understand why I spent money on this in the first place...
Early Access Review
Fun to play for a few and when ever you get bored. Do I like this game yes I love it I am a brig race fan and this could be so much more. I would have to agree with a few other that
this is the DAYZ of the race games. Going to thumb down it unless if you can get it on sale . I do not feel that this game is worth full price as of right now.
Early Access Review
i recommend this game, just bcs. i want it to be finished...for now it looks like they`ve revorked some old engine and made few tracks, few cars and for so, so long now, nothing has happend... and from &amount& of news about this game, its sad to say, but probably it will stay this way... :(well... flatout ultimate then will be best game of this kind for now. After testing newest version... clearly you are trying to do something... well.. this time its step in wrong direction... smallest car is able to move huuge much bigger square car...
whole driving style, looks like cars are on rails and are made of paper... not only unrealistic, but plain wrong...also, do i think there is visuals downgrade? or do textures looks really old now?also 30fps@970GTX... looks like many things changed for worse...but i still recommend this game... i really really want this to be so much fun as flatout ultimate...for now... this is just a demo... and its not even fun... its very boring to move around paper cars in railway style...
Early Access Review
Dont get this game.

Early Access Review
I recommend it, but beware of slow development and unfinished contentI don't usually review Early Access games, but since the recent updates the fun factor of Wreckfest is coming back again, and I'm also gonna point out some things since there's apparently a Hate Bandwagon going on.To start off, this is a simcade racing game in the vein of Destruction Derby 2 and Eve of Destruction (not a Flatout 2 successor as some people thought it would be. The setting is the same as the first Flatout game, but it's a more realistic take on the banger racing genre). It has got impressive car damage and deformation, fully functional online mode with dedicated servers, AI opponents and complete mod support. The first time you launch the game, you'll start with a slow and fragile car, but you'll be able to earn money by playing to upgrade it or buy other cars. Old-fashioned (but unfinished) career mode, in fact. This game has potential, but getting it now or when finished is only up to you (even though I agree it is a bit overpriced for being an alpha product with not much content yet).I disagree with most of the negative reviews this game is getting.-&The game is a simulator and destruction is missing/the game used to be fun but now it's trash&:this is totally false. The destruction is there and it's cool (especially since the last update from May). The driving model, although being realistic, is not sim-y at all. Perfectly playable with keyboard. Don't have any skills or just want to smash other cars? Enable driving assists.Only the driving model was drastically changed from EA launch to actual update. The pacing and smashing cars are as fun as they were, objectively speaking. It's like people are still stuck in the seventh build that came out a year ago, when the new engine was still at its prime and has made things worse for the most part after months of waiting, but the game is now going on the right track, again.-&The game is abandoned&no, it isn't. The development is slow, but it's still being worked on. Funny how people and recent negative reviews keep saying that even though we're still getting updates regularly (after a looong wait because of a physics overhaul, before the seventh build). It's clear as crystal in the News section...Though I agree new content doesn't come out much frequently and, as with other Early Access games, there's no guarantee this game will be fully finished. Hopefully, it will. All I can say is that you should try the game yourself. There's always the ability to refund if you don't like it or just want to try the alpha version before the final one. Worth picking up during a sale though, as it's fun to smash other cars in both SP and MP.

Absolutely love this game, have done since the very first sneak peek and public version, every update added something diferent, some made a certain track worse, the rest have only added to how the game is, other reviews from people that haven't played the game too much really are missing the point, once you get to know players the game only becomes more enjoyable as you become part of a community, the modding updates bringing the whole community closer together. whilst also making the game ready for a multitude of different mods ranging from tracks from older games, to fictional ones, to improvements and a large variety of new cars, I, for one, added an old VW van into it and soon a Mini, others have made Lancias and Dodge Chargers and track ports from Destruction Derby 2! Take it as you will, but this game isn't dead in any way

They probably spent all of their resources making the engine. It is an impressive engine I guess, but I'd still rather play a game with a less impressive physics engine and tons of tracks and cars, and an actual career mode, than a game with kewl car crashes yo but only like ????ing FIVE TRACKS, SIX CARS AND NO CAREER MODE.&BUT IT'S STILL IN EARLY ACCESS!&???? you, it's been in early access for ???? knows how long now, and it seems like it'll stay that way. Forever. This is basically the DayZ of racing games. Actually, lemme take that back, this is the ????ing WarZ of racing games.Just buy Flatout 2 instead.

This game has really good features and physics, but its still early access and you get easily bored of it after half an hour.+ It's fun to smash cars+The best car physics- Early access (buggy)- You get bored easilyIn it's current stage I would give it a 6.5/10. I got a refund because its not worth the money in its current stage. But I belive this game has a much larger potential and will be a great game once out of early access.

Fun to ???? around for a little bit but overall not the best and too expensive for the little content that there is.

This game demonstrates the major problem with Early Access: A game will only sell so much, once a game stops selling there's no incentive for a developer to finish the game. Early Access is littered with the corpses of abandoned projects.

I haven't been this depressed at the experience of watching all the fun and joy get sucked out of something that seemed so full of life and early promise since I last reflected on my own existence. The early, pre-Steam and early-Steam beta versions were a hectic mess of wrecking fun, but at some point someone inexplicably decided to take everything too seriously. As a result now we're presented with nothing more than a soulless, empty shell of a game which has completely forgot that it once knew what pure, unadulterated fun was, and which is certainly no fun now. There are plenty of serious ra something called Wreckfest was clearly never destined to join that group. That next-gen update to Flatout, Destruction Derby or Test Drive: Eve of Destruction that we all want is going to require some more waiting for, because it's not here. It seemed like it was heading that way at some point, but that is not this game anymore.I'm so sad at what this game has become that I can't even bring myself to use a &took a wrong turn at some point& pun.

This is the biggest disappointment of all early access disappointments that I've experienced so far.
The reason is because this game had such potential and I cannot understand what happened.
They could have released the game half developed at one point and it would still be fun but all of the sudden there are ????ing lawn mowers and bad, game changing updates.
It is no longer fun and it just makes me sad for something that was so great even half developed to turn into ????.
I loved this game at one point.

Over rated and over hyped! pile of junk that i got suckered into buying when it was pre order only back in 2012.NCG
*4 years in EA.*Handfull of cars*modding only just being introduced*awful damage system which looks like a toddler had taken a heat gun to a plastic toy car*Barely 10 hours gameplay over 4 yearsCarmageddon Reincarnation*Came out at the same time*had modding support from Aplha build*managed to release a full game*sequel on the way with console ports*43+ hours gameplay*Managed to have an actual game titleYes it is abit of a Carmageddon comparison but atleast they fulfilled their KickStarter promises and released a game that is 10x more fun to play.

This game has become so frustrating to play that I have to swear never to upset my nerves again by playing this as a race game because its not . Its a total session of anger and frustration . The VI are not scripted to race but rather to stop you from having one .

It's magnificent. It's beautiful. How an idea that started so good can fail so gloriously. The Next Car Game had promise and it had balls. Now it's a buggy mess. I cannot recommend this game. I have waited for it to get better - it has gotten worse. What happened, Bugbear?
