Located in close proximity to the University of California, San Diego, the campus is situated with easy access to San Diego's scientific community, which includes the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, as well as a concentration of some 300 biotechnology companies.& For more information, see the California campus webpage.　　Jupiter, FL　　The Jupiter, FL, campus consists of a 325,000-square-foot facility consisting of three buildings completed in early 2009. Adjacent to Florida Atlantic University and the future home of a branch of the Max Planck Institute, the new Scripps Florida campus is at the center of an emerging cluster of biotechnology and pharmaceutical firms. For more information, see the Florida campus webpage.　　Faculty　　The more than 200 principal investigators at Scripps Research include many distinguished leaders in their fields, including three Nobel laureates and numerous members of the National Academy of Sciences (including its Institute of Medicine), American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and American Association for the Advancement of Science.　　While academic divisions are de-emphasized across the institute to encourage collaboration, each faculty member belongs to one or more of the following departments:　　Cancer Biology　　Cell Biology　　Chemical Physiology　　Chemistry　　Committee on the Neurobiology of Addictive Disorders　　Genetics　　Immunology and Microbial Science　　Infectology　　Metabolism and Aging　　Molecular Biology　　Molecular and Experimental Medicine　　Molecular and Integrative Neurosciences　　Molecular Therapeutics　　Neurobiology　　Neuroscience　　A variety of academic centers and consortia also exist within the institute. For more information, see the Research and Faculty Overview.　　Educational Programs　　In addition to the training of hundreds of postdoctoral fellows (see Postdoctoral Services), Scripps Research offers a distinguished graduate program in the biological and chemical sciences as well as outreach programs for high school and middle school students, teachers, and undergraduates.　　Launched in 1989, the Kellogg School of Science and Technology is ranked among the top graduate schools in the country according to a number of metrics, including U.S. News & World Report. The publication now places the Kellogg School seventh overall in chemistry, with a ranking of third in the specialty of organic chemistry and fourth in the specialty of biochemistry. The school is also rated seventh overall in the biological sciences, with a ranking of ninth in the specialty of biochemistry/biophysics/structural biology. The school can now boast of more than 300 accomplished alumni, who work in both academics and industry.
