Can I run The Sims 4 on my computer?

How do I turn off the tutorial?
Right click on the game in Origin, select game properties, and type &--no_tutorial& on the command line. They will be disabled until you delete the command.
Remember that this is a new game with new features and there will likely be things you don't immediately know how to do. Don't turn off the tutorial unless you're sure you don't need it!
How is custom content installed?
Please remember that third-party content may cause issues with your game, especially when the game is new and the community is just starting to create for it. Do your research before putting items in your game.
Inside the “Mods” folder you will find the resource.cfg file which enables the use of 3rd party content. This file should remain inside the Mods folder at all times. If you should ever hard delete or lose this file (or mods folder), the game will automatically generate a new one the next time you boot up the game.
There are two types of Custom Content available for download: Default Replacement and Non-Default. Default replacement content replaces an already existing item/color in the game. Non-Default adds an additional item/color to the game. Always be sure to check for this before downloading.
Download and Install
Custom content is created and distributed in .package form. When downloading content already in .package form, simply place them into the Mods folder for use. Do not attempt to install any other file type in this folder.
While individual .package files can be downloaded and installed into the mods folder as is, you may encounter content downloads in .ZIP or .RAR form. These types of files must be opened using a data compression utility such as WinZIP or WinRAR, and then used to extract the .package files from within.
Removing Custom Content
To remove Custom Content, delete the files directly from the Mods folder. If you would like to save and transfer your content for The Sims 4 Base Game, remove the mods folder and place it on your desktop. You can then replace the folder once you have installed the game.
You can create sub-folders within the Mods folder to keep your content organized.
Where do I download custom content?
Please remember that third-party content may cause issues with your game, especially when the game is new and the community is just starting to create for it. Do your research before putting items in your game.

Where can I add more outfits for each type of clothing?
In CAS: At the top of the panel, hover over the icon for type of outfit you want to add to (everyday, sleep, etc) and click the small arrow that appears. A small menu with &1& and a little + sign will appear. Click the + sign to add a new outfit.
How do I switch to the TS3-style camera?
You can switch to the TS3-style camera in &Game Options.& Alternately, Ctrl+Shift+Tab toggles between the camera modes in game. Using the TS3-style camera also makes the method of furniture placement the same as in TS3 (drag the furniture in the direction you want it to face).
How do I make an object bigger/smaller?
To change the size of a held object, hold shift and press [ or ]
How do I unlock the hidden lots?
There are hidden lots with special collectibles in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs.

What's the cheat for ... ?
To open up a cheat console, press CTRL+SHIFT+C. Input the following cheat codes you want and press enter!
”Help” – Lists all available commands into the comand console. This will only list cheats available to the players.
”resetSim {FirstName} {LastName}” – Resets the Sim.
”fullscreen” – toggles full screen on or off
”headlineeffects {on/off}” – Hides all headline efects including the plumbob, thought balloons, etc.
”Death.toggle” – Disables Death so that Sims don’t die.
”FreeRealEstate [on|off]” – Can be entered at neighborhood/world. If on, all homes are free while the cheat is active.
”motherlode” – provides 50000 Simoleons
”kaching” – provides 1000 Simoleons
”rosebud” provides 1000 Simoleons
”testingcheats {true/false}” – Enables the use of further cheats
Entering ”testingcheats true”, then entering ”cas.fulleditmode” allows all CAS abilities. (note: has been reported to cause errors in parent/child relationship when used in families with children)
Interaction Cheats are available by Shift+Clicking on objects and Sims once the player types in ”testingcheats true” in the command console.

”Reset Object” which will reset the sim.
”Add to Family” which adds the Sim to the current family.
”Cheat Motive & Make Happy” which sets all motives to full and set mood to Happy.
”Cheat Motive & Disable Motive Decay” which allows all motives to remain static.

Shift Clicking on objects
”Reset Object”, which will reset the object.
Shift Clicking on dirtyable objects
”Make Dirty”, which will make the object dirty.

How do I resolve this glitch?
In these early stages, the game will be frequently updated with patches to iron out various bugs. If you're having an issue, first make sure you're not missing any recent updates.

Below are some common glitches and their known solutions.
&Game failed to save& with error code when trying to save
Solution: Have one of your Sims travel to another lot and try saving again.
Sim at home but UI indicates at work
With this glitch, a Sim will return home from work but the UI says your Sim is at work, making it impossible to see needs\skills\relationship.
Solution: Travel to another lot. If that doesn't work, quit the job via cell phone. (However the glitch reoccurs with any new job. Resetsim command, move out/in, split family does not work.)
You may be able to click on the sims work icon in their portrait and select the option to make them come home.
Censor doesn't disappear after shower
Solution: quit the game and restart. Please note that this seems to be an issue largely (if not only) associated with the cracked version of the game.
Shower animation doesn't stop after upgrade
Solution: visit a community lot and return home
Object stuck in Sim's hand (pan, fork, mug, ...)
Solution: Use the dresser to change your Sim's outfit. You can also try typing &testingcheats true& in the cheat console which appears when you hit ctrl+shift+c, then shift+click the object to delete it.
&Demon baby& (deformed, stretched out babies)
Solution: This issue was related to certain integrated graphics cards. The update released on 9/5/14 should fix it.
Sim's last name not changing after marriage
Solution: While there does not yet seem to be a fix to stop this issue entirely, you can use cheats to edit your Sim's last name. Press Ctrl+Shift+C, enter testingcheats true then cas.fulleditmode. Shift+Left Click on your Sim to edit them in CAS and change their name.
Issues with changing clock speed, or clock speed at work
Try switching between Live and Buy/Build mode. Also try pressing Esc to open and close the menu.
Can't pay household bills
Solution: While there does not yet seem to be a fix to stop this issue entirely, you can prevent it from happening by NOT removing the bills from the mailbox. Instead, pay them via phone or computer.
If you're having unresolved glitches in gameplay, try updating your game. Below is an overview of the issues fixed in each update.
Day One Patch, 9/2/14
This patch fixed instances of crashing from Build Mode and CAS, issues regarding babies in the household inventory, the game becoming unresponsive after adding a lot from the Gallery, and more. Also, scaled objects in lots shared via the Gallery will now keep their new sizes.
9/5/14 - Version 1.0.671.10
Patch notes: It has been brought to our attention that some of our cute and adorable babies have had difficulty expressing themselves without… well… distorting.
There was an issue with some integrated chipsets causing the poor little ones to appear in their own “unique” way. We have corrected the problem and pulled everyone back together. Thank you for helping us identify, and track down this issue.
9/9/14 - Version 1.0.677.20
This patch added a new decorative gnome, a cheat to toggle object highlights on and off, as well as several bug fixes.
9/25/14 - Version 1.0.728.0
This patch fixed issues related to error codes 102 and 122, and fixed some instances of disappearing Sims.
10/1/2014 - Version 1.0.732.20
This patch was a substantial update that added ghosts, new Star Wars-themed CAS items, new eye colors in CAS, and fixed a large number of issues regarding crashes and performance, graphics, buffs and skill gains, and UI.
Miscellaneous Gameplay Tips
Importing Sims from the CAS Demo to the full game
Simply copy all the files from &Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 Create A Sim Demo/Tray& to &Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Tray&.
Traveling Home
When moving from another lot back to your home, don't click on your sim and choose go home unless you want to waste time running to the edge of the map section you're in. Instead, open the world map with M and choose to travel to your home lot that way.
Keeping up Sims' motives
for a tip-torial about keeping up motives, moods, and making your Sims happy. This will most likely be useful for people who are new to the Sims franchise or who have only played TS3.
Adding custom music
Add your custom music to C:\Users\XXXXX\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Custom Music\
Your music will then be played in the game!
Panning around faster
When using either the arrow keys or WASD to move the screen, holding shift while moving makes it scroll faster.
In the options menu, turn off all the automatic online options (you will have to go online in order to access the Gallery)
Skipping the first conversation wheel and going straight to the conversation &tones&
Shift-clicking on a Sim bypasses the first conversation wheel and goes right to the &Friendly, Romantic, Funny& wheel (TS3-style). Doesn't sound like much but it can save you hundreds of clicks! Also check the options for a setting that makes this the default.

**Solution:** This issue was related to certain integrated graphics cards. The update released on 9/5/14 should fix it.
###Sim's last name not changing after marriage
**Solution:** While there does not yet seem to be a fix to stop this issue entirely, you can use cheats to edit your Sim's last name. Press Ctrl+Shift+C, enter **testingcheats true** then **cas.fulleditmode**. Shift+Left Click on your Sim to edit them in CAS and change their name.
###Issues with changing clock speed, or clock speed at work
Try switching between Live and Buy/Build mode. Also try pressing Esc to open and close the menu.
###Can't pay household bills
**Solution:** While there does not yet seem to be a fix to stop this issue entirely, you can prevent it from happening by NOT removing the bills from the mailbox. Instead, pay them via phone or computer.

###Day One Patch, 9/2/14
This patch fixed instances of crashing from Build Mode and CAS, issues regarding babies in the household inventory, the game becoming unresponsive after adding a lot from the Gallery, and more. Also, scaled objects in lots shared via the Gallery will now keep their new sizes.
###9/5/14 - Version 1.0.671.10
**Patch notes:** It has been brought to our attention that some of our cute and adorable babies have had difficulty expressing themselves without… well… distorting.
There was an issue with some integrated chipsets causing the poor little ones to appear in their own “unique” way. We have corrected the problem and pulled everyone back together. Thank you for helping us identify, and track down this issue.
###9/9/14 - Version 1.0.677.20
This patch added a new decorative gnome, a cheat to toggle object highlights on and off, as well as several bug fixes.
###9/25/14 - Version 1.0.728.0
This patch fixed issues related to error codes 102 and 122, and fixed some instances of disappearing Sims.
###10/1/2014 - Version 1.0.732.20
This patch was a substantial update that added ghosts, new Star Wars-themed CAS items, new eye colors in CAS, and fixed a large number of issues regarding crashes and performance, graphics, buffs and skill gains, and UI.
##Miscellaneous Gameplay Tips
###Importing Sims from the CAS Demo to the full game
Simply copy all the files from &Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 Create A Sim Demo/Tray& to &Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Tray&.
###Traveling Home
When moving from another lot back to your home, don't click on your sim and choose go home unless you want to waste time running to the edge of the map section you're in. Instead, open the world map with M and choose to travel to your home lot that way.
###Keeping up Sims' motives

###Adding custom music
Add your custom music to C:\Users\XXXXX\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Custom Music\
Your music will then be played in the game!
### Panning around faster
When using either the arrow keys or WASD to move the screen, holding shift while moving makes it scroll faster.
###Eliminating game stutters/lagging, or loading times upwards of ~30 seconds
In the options menu, turn off all the automatic online options (you will have to go online in order to access the Gallery)
###Skipping the first conversation wheel and going straight to the conversation &tones&
Shift-clicking on a Sim bypasses the first conversation wheel and goes right to the &Friendly, Romantic, Funny& wheel (TS3-style). Doesn't sound like much but it can save you hundreds of clicks! Also check the options for a setting that makes this the default.
