为什么一把钥匙只能开一把锁，为什么成千上万的钥匙和锁没有相同的？
每个暗锁都有一个锁闩，它可以伸缩出来插入到门框上的金属板里，防止门被打开。而锁闩的伸缩，是由一个凸轮控制的。在锁里面有一排圆柱形的小销钉，当插入这把锁的钥匙时，钥匙上的凹槽就会使销钉相互对齐，使它排一条直线。这样，钥匙就可以自由来回转动，并通过凸轮带动锁闩移动，把锁打开或锁上。如果插入不是这把锁的钥匙，由于凹槽构造不一样，不能让销钉排成一条直线，那幺就无法把锁打开。在每把锁里都有好几个销钉。这些销钉的长短不一，即便是同一种锁，销钉排列的方法也有成千上万种，钥匙上的凹槽也就不会相同。小朋友可以找外形相同的两把钥匙比一比，看看它们的凹槽是不是一样?因此一把钥匙只能开一把锁的奥妙就在这里。
